But keeping with tradition does not have to be boring— at least according to these sweet confections. From seasonal motifs to contours that are astonishing, our excellent cake group brings the best of our print problems into one .
Ahead, delicious creations worthy of our pages that are shiny, complete with all the colours, flavors, and frostings of your dreams. Plus, locate tips on the best way to have (or make) an indistinguishable cake of your own.

DUTCH GOLDEN AGE WEDDING CAKE

Inspired by the hyper- botanic that is realistic still-life paintings of Dutch artist Rachel Ruysch, circa 1685 to 1750, more than one guest is going to do a double take at the sight of the cake, which resembles a verdant floral centerpiece. Custom-made sugar flowers, created by Amy DeGiulio of Sugar Flower Cake Shop in New York, were put in a bed of chocolate-fondant-covered cake, that has been set in a gold urn that is large. Fill the cake's layers with rosewater buttercream to call it's blooming adornments out.

MINI CHOCOLATE-COVERED WEDDING CAKES

Elaborate: Yes. To make these miniature chocolate-covered desserts, we poured a glaze over each cake and piped on lines—and, in the instance of the cake at the center, circles—of melted white chocolate. (Perch the cakes on a wire rack so extra glaze doesn't pool.) Then we lightly pulled a toothpick to generate the designs.

POTTED PLANT WEDDING CAKE

Contributing editor Jason Schreiber made this herb-adorned cake, which features micro marigolds, fennel and cilantro flowers, bachelor's buttons, sweet alyssums, oregano, and pea shoots. Swiss meringue buttercream's tacky texture kept the edible blooms (buy your own at gourmetsweetbotanicals.com) in place.

ROSE-PIPED WEDDING CAKE

This joyful rose confection may look couture, but just about anyone is really capable of re-creating it. Focus on a basic fondant cake. Next, print out our template of roses that are subjective, place parchment paper and delineate using a piping bag of royal icing. After dry, peel the paper in the piped roses, and stick the designs to the cake using glue paste that is been blended with water that is hot.

WHITE ROSE WEDDING CAKE

This bloom's standing as the most definitive love symbol in nature stems in the Greeks, who used the flower to symbolize the goddess Venus. White roses, especially, have begun to symbolize purity, unity, and true love —as opposed to red roses' organization with passion—which has earned them the status of Ultimate Wedding Flower. Here, New York City cake guru Sylvia Weinstock blanketed three layers of cake in handcrafted, edible sugar petals to gently hark back to the shape of a French croquembouche—and develop a temple to Cupid's favorite bloom.

OMBRE WEDDING CAKE

Wendy Kromer- Caitlin Brown concealed blood-orange and Schell and passion-fruit curds in tinted vanilla poundcake for this particular buttercream-dotted confection. Bake yours a bit larger than desirable that browned edges may be trimmed off, revealing the lively ombre design underneath.

SPRING WEDDING CAKE

Springerle forms are what make this cake (an orange-chiffon confection full of mascarpone) great. Despite the fact that the unique purple tint and springtime characters (bunnies, birds, and blooms) are not too shabby, either.

TEARDROP WEDDING CAKE

Give your cake a dash of whimsy. Order up a fondant cake, plus a pail of fondant, from a bakery. Add roll out into a thin sheet, and food coloring to get the right hues.

IKAT AND FRENCH SILK RIBBON WEDDING CAKE

The spirit of a century-old French silk ribbon can be felt in every morsel of the dear cake. On top rests a spectacular bow of molded glue paste (so realistic, you'll be tempted to untie it). Afterward we painted edible luster dust combined with lemon extract on the fondant in a rose pattern that evokes the blurry quality of an ikat weave.

RED, WHITE, AND BLUE WEDDING CAKE

This Lafayette Grand Cafe & Bakery fromage blanc cheesecake has six layers of berry-adorned good. The layers are flavored with vanilla bean, lemon zest, and black pepper, and sit atop an organic cornmeal crust.

A WEDDING CAKE WITH DISTINCT STRIPES

Here, we set the idea of icing on ice, relying rather on unadorned pale layers for graphical appeal. Coconut pound cake, tinted with gel-paste food coloring, functions as the base, while white fondant and passionfruit curd rests on top (the curd can be between each layer).

WHITE-CHOCOLATE PANELED WEDDING CAKE

Architectural yet familiar, our white-chocolate panel cake requires neither culinary talents nor layout skills (apart from those you learned in preschool). Only purchase a buttercream cake from a nearby bakery and a pack of chocolate panels from chocolatier Christopher Norman. The rest is a cakewalk: Stick panels of varying heights onto the tiers, and fill the ledges with another fruit or gold raspberries.

WEDDING PETIT FOURS

Soaked in brown sugar, butter, and honey glaze, these geometric minis by Wendy Kromer - Schell and Caitlin Brown resemble honeycombs. We topped them off with whipped cream and a serving of candied kumquats.

HEART WEDDING CAKE

Long ago, the heart was thought to function as the origin of most human emotions. Though modern science proves otherwise, the phrase "giving your heart" continues to be the best method to express that you'd give anything for the one you love. Jay Qualls of the Tennessee-based Maples Wedding Cakes printed our designs covered them outlined them with royal icing, then transferred them.
